How to Avoid Cancer from Cosmetics and Personal Care Products: The Neways Story
This book explains how to recognize carcinogens on product labels, boycott such products, and shop for safe alternatives from non-mainstream industries and thus reduce your avoidable risks of cancer.  This is critical as we are losing the winnable war against cancer, which now strikes one in two men and one in three women in their lifetimes

Let's Stop Poisoning Our Children!!

As a parent or grandparents, you do everything you can to protect your child's or grandchild's health and well being, don't you?  Of course you do.  You feed your children nutritious food, make sure they get fresh air and exercise, tell them to look both ways before crossing the street, and protect them from well-known hazards such as burns, electrical shocks, falls, and choking.

There is another hazard you may not be aware of toxic chemicals that are present right in your own home.  Scientists and doctors are discovering that there is a connection between our health and the use of common, everyday household chemicals. If yours is the typical home, you probably use dozens of cleaning and personal care products, purchased at the local grocery store, that contain chemical ingredients that may be harmful to you and your children.

Product Update

NEWays Generations®

A New Day for NEWays We’ve reformulated this popular line of children’s personal care products to be more fun and beneficial than ever.

This product line is back online and better than ever!!

“Featuring natural moisturizers and emollients, these new and improved products have been safety tested and dermatologist-approved. They’re free of preservatives, artificial fragrances, and all other potentially harmful ingredients.” NEWays Generations® products feature a botanical blend that includes licorice, apple, chamomile, aloe, algae extracts, mugwort extract, and sweet violet essential oil. Not only do these products offer soothing, calming bath-time fun, but they also provide aromatherapeutic benefits.
If you and your child liked the original NEWays Generations® products, you will love using them now! And if you’ve never tried them before, you’re in for a treat. “I just love the NEWays Generations products,” says Jeanane Willette, from Minnesota. “The Hair Detangler is wonderful for my six-year-old’s hair, and I use it on my hair too. It used to take me 45 minutes to brush her hair, but now it just takes me 10 or 15 minutes. And I like the way the Hair and Body Wash foams, so you don’t get too much soap on children’s body and hair. I believe these are by far the best products out there for babies and kids!”  More info Here

Simple Essential Oil Recipes for Infants & Children

Care for your baby with all natural healing products you can make yourself, rather than synthetic chemical compounds.  Your baby deserves the best. Would you prefer to use commercial, chemically laden baby care products, or nature's own pure and natural essential oils and pure carrier oils, etc?
Babies and children have an especially sensitive sense of smell.  It takes only six weeks for babies to recognize their mother's scent and distinguish between their mother's and someone else's undershirt.  Fragrance may be the first secret love bond of life, connecting mother and child in a wonderful way.
Babies usually love the fragrances of tangerine, orange, Roman Chamomile.  Slightly older children love lemon, cinnamon, orange, and oils with a flowery scent, diluted.

Fun Scented Play Clay

Kids of all ages will have hours of aromatic fun with this soft, long-lasting dough.
Instructions:
  1. Mix 1 cup flour, 1/4 cup salt, 2 tablespoons cream of tarter, 1 tablespoon oil, and 1 cup water in a medium-sized pot until well blended.
  2. While stirring continuously, cook the mixture in the pot over medium-low heat until it forms a thick dough that is no longer sticky (approximately 5 minutes). You can tell it is done when it no longer sticks to the sides of the pan, but forms a clump of dough in the middle of the pan. (*Helpful hint: the dough will become fairly hard to stir before it gets done, so an extra set of hands to help stir may be useful.)
Remove the dough from the pan and place on waxed-paper. Allow to cool for about 5 minutes.
  3. Divide the dough into four equal pieces.
  4. For each of the four pieces of dough, add approximately 10 drops of different colored food coloring, and knead until the color is well blended into the dough.
  5. Add approximately 8-10 drops of different essential oils or blends to each of the four pieces of dough and knead for about 60 seconds. If you find the scent of the dough is not strong enough, add a few more drops of the essential oil or blend. (*Helpful hint: to make sure both the food coloring and the essential oil or blend stay in the dough and don't drip off, create a well in the top of the piece of dough with your finger, drop the coloring or oil in the well, fold the dough so it closes over the well opening, then continue to knead the dough as normal.)
  6. Store each piece of dough in a 4 oz. salve jar, ziplock bag, or other air-tight container.
Extra Ideas:
1. Create fun labels for your containers using sheets of inkjet or laser labels (such as Avery®). (The 1-1/2" x 2-13/16" labels fit perfectly on a 4 oz. salve jar.) You can either color these by hand using markers, stamps, or paints, or you can use your software that has pre-formatted label settings (most word-processing software does) and create labels on your computer and print them.
2. Try creating scents that match the color of the play clay you created. For example, try using peppermint oil for red or white, pine for green, wintergreen or birch (both have a rootbeer-like aroma) for brown, spruce for blue, orange oil for orange, and so forth.

Naturally Scented Finger Paints

These naturally scented finger paints are easy to make, and a lot of fun to play with. Kids of all ages will love discovering the different scents of these paints as they create beautiful pictures and designs. Using finger paints is also a great way to help develop creativity, motor skills, and hand-eye coordination in younger children.
Instructions:
  1. In a small cup or bowl, mix 1/4 cup of liquid laundry starch with 1 tsp. powdered tempera paint (5 drops of food coloring will also work if powdered tempera paints are not available).
  2. Repeat the step above using different colors of powdered tempera paint until you have a good variety of colors (4-6 colors is usually sufficient).
  3. Mix 3-5 drops of a different essential oil with each color of paint. Some good combinations are: lavender for purple or blue; pine, spruce, or fir for green; peppermint for red or white; chamomile for yellow; spearmint for blue; and clove or wintergreen for brown. You can also try coming up with your own unique combinations.
  4. Carefully pour each color of paint into a 2 oz. plastic bottle and replace the cap on the bottle.
  5. (Optional) Create a label for each bottle with the color, scent and instructions (for example, your label might read: "Essentially Scented Finger Paints: Dilly Dilly Lavender Blue Color. Instructions: shake bottle, open, squeeze paint onto a sheet of finger-paint or freezer paper, and have fun painting!").
  6. Before painting, shake the bottle a little bit, then open the bottle and squeeze out the desired amount of paint onto finger-paint paper, freezer paper, or thick paper. You can spread the paint with your fingers, or with small paintbrushes.
  7. Note: Make sure that younger children are supervised by an adult at all times while they are using these paints. Although they smell good, the liquid starch used in these paints would probably not be good to swallow.
    Extra Ideas.
If you are giving a set of these finger paints as a gift, you may want to include sheets of finger-paint paper (or a roll of freezer paper) to paint on, or a small apron or painting smock to protect clothes.
Use a set of these paints to help teach a pre-school class about the senses. You can talk about how the paints look, how they smell, and how they feel.
