Special Feature:
It's Simple To Use Essential Oils
Essential oils are highly valued for their many benefits gained by
inhalation, skin absorption, and aesthetic use in natural skin
preparations.
Using a
single essential oil or a combination of essential oils, it is simple to
create high quality massage blends, herbal ointments,
therapy baths and saunas, body wraps, compresses, scalp treatments, air
fresheners, and natural fragrances.
Create an Air Freshener spritzer to purify your bathroom, playroom,
or kitchen and make others to enhance the atmosphere of your living room
or bedroom. In a 4-ounce spritzer bottle, mix distilled water with
40 to 60 drops EO. Always shake before spraying.
Take an aromatherapy Bath to calm your nerves, soothe your aching
muscles, and clear your mind. This is truly one of the most
effective but often overlooked methods of gaining the powerful benefits
of essential oils. To your fully drawn bath add 8 to 10 drops of
pure EO along with 1 teaspoon of carrier oil (such as Grape Seed Oil or
Sweet Almond Oil - or use your bath/shower gel). Gently stir bath
water just before you enter. Relax in the tub for 20 minutes and
then rest for at least 1/2 hour.
Enjoy your own Custom Lotion by making an aromatherapy Body Balm.
For a full body lotion add 15 to 20 drops EO to each ounce of body
Lotion.. Shake well. If you need a summer cool-down or foot
freshener, include Peppermint in your selection of essential oils.
Make an assortment of Body Spritzers and Skin Tonics. Mix 4
ounces of distilled water or pure floral water with 30 to 40 drops of
pure EO. Sake well before each use. Avoid spraying into
eyes. Refrigerate to enhance the refreshing effect.
A simple and convenient method for Inhalation is to place 2 to 5
drops of pure EO on a clean tissue, then inhale. Another quick
method is to rub a few drops of EO in the palms of your hands, then
inhale. Try this with Rosemary to revive your senses.
Aromatherapy is often associated with body massage and pleasant
fragrances only. This is misleading as essential oils are
versatile and there are many application variations which may be used
effectively to benefit from the therapeutic properties of these oils.
As with massage, knowledge and caution need to be exercised as harm may
result if not used accurately.

More information
Nothing evokes feelings of the midwinter holidays like the fragrance
of needled evergreens.
In the language of aromatherapy, the essences of pine, fir, spruce and
cedar all conjure feelings of comfortable days by the fire as snow
flies outside. Cedar in particular is inextricably linked to the
smell of pencils, something familiar from every childhood. In
addition to the wonderful fragrance in your home, you are protecting
your family from
infectious diseases. Quality essential oils have many
healing properties.
Christmas Tree Spray
Help your tree
smell like it was just cut.
Make a mixture of 1 cup water with 8 drops of
essential oil of Pine Needle or
Eternal Noel Blend.
Use this to
spray the tree.
Or put a few drops of Pine on a cloth and tuck this
around the base of the tree.
A Soothing Tip for Babies and Children
Place 4 drops Lavender and 4 drops Chamomile on a tissue and place
between the sheets 1/2 hour before bedtime.
Remove tissue before child gets in bed. Use this tip yourself
and tuck inside your pillowcase.

Using Essential Oils Around the House
Have you thought about utilizing essential oils in your home? Here are a few
ideas to get you going. Half the fun is putting together a special blend
that really says home to you.
Kitchens
Wipe down kitchen surfaces with a blend of germ busting essential oils. Put
about 500ml (2 cups) of distilled water into a spray bottle and add 8 drops
of lavender, 15 drops of lemon and 5 drops of eucalyptus. Shake well before
spraying.
When wiping out fridges, microwaves etc. add a couple of drops of essential
oil to the rinse water. Any of the citrus oils would be a good choice.
To get rid of cooking smells add 3 drops of lemon and 3 drops of orange to
an diffusor.
Bathrooms
Bathrooms can also be wiped down with a blend of germ busting essential
oils. Again add 2 cups of distilled water to a spray bottle and add
20 - 30 drops of your own special essential oil blend. Essential oils with
germ busting properties include: basil, bergamot, eucalyptus, ginger,
lavender, lemon, patchouli, rosewood and thyme.
To clean glass and mirrors mix 1 cup of distilled water, 1/4 cup
vinegar in a spray bottle then add 20 drops of lemon. Shake well
before using. This cleans well and leaves a lovely fresh smell. Most of the
citrus oils are great for cutting through grease.
Linen Closets
For sweet smelling linen add 1 - 2 of drops of essential oil or blend of
essential oils to a cotton ball and pop it onto your linen shelves. I use a
cotton ball on each shelf. A blend I enjoy using in my linen cupboard is 10
drops Lime, 4 drops Orange, 3 drops Cinnamon, 1 drop Patchouli. I also use
cotton balls in my clothing drawers, here I use a mixture of Patchouli and
Cedarwood. Experiment a little and find a blend you really enjoy.
Potpourri
Potpourri is often used to fragrance various rooms in the house. Gather
dried leaves, flowers and small wood shavings. Crush the plant materials to
desired size. Place in a wide mouthed glass jar and add your essential oil
or blend of essential oil to the mixture. The amount of essential oil you
add will depend on the size of your jar. Try 7 - 10 drops. Stir contents
well and tighten the lid on the jar. Let the potpourri rest for several days
as this will allow the plant material time to absorb the aroma. Lavender on
its own is great. For a floral type blend try 4 drops geranium, 2 drops
grapefruit and for a more exotic blend try 5 drops
sandalwood, 2 drop patchouli and 3 drops lime.
Carpets
Make your own carpet freshener. Put 1 cup of cornstarch into a container and
add 15 - 30 drops of essential oil or blend of essential oil. Mix well and
leave to set for a couple of days. Sprinkle over carpets, leave for 1 hour
then vacuum up. The blend you use will depend on personal taste you could
try any of the blends mentioned above. I often use a blend of 10 drops
lime, 6 drops mandarin and 4 drops patchouli for my carpets.
To keep your vacuum cleaner smelling fresh add 1 - 2 drops of essential oil
to the outside of the dust bag.
