All About Perfumes and Fragrance
Are you thinking about buying a fragrance or perfume for
a friend or loved one. There are several things
you must consider before exposing them to potentially harmful ingredients.

Nerola-
Nerola is a sophisticated fragrance inspired by aromatherapy. Created with
pure essential oils, it entices with a floral-fruity burst of orange
blossom, bergamot, ylang-ylang, and vanilla. These light top notes harmonize
with rich musky base notes of oak moss, myrrh, and cypress. Jojoba and
coconut balance the aromatic symphony
Natural Perfume
Ylang Ylang, known
as the "Queen of Perfumes" makes a beautiful natural perfume. Ylang
Ylang is a natural antidepressant, helpful for anxiety. Blend with a
small amount of Jojoba Oil to create a lingering scent. Enjoy

Foot and Body Powders
AROMATIC FOOT
POWDER
-
1/2 cup arrowroot (or an equal part blend
of baking soda, cornstarch and clay)
-
8 drops essential oils of your choice (see
suggestions below)
Combine the arrowroot and essential oil,
crushing the small clumps of oil between your fingers to evenly
distribute them. I let this sit for 24-48 hours and then I usually sift it
using a regular flour sifter (I only use this sifter for essential oils), this get all
the lumps out and evenly distributes the oils and it makes a very light
powder.
This is made only with pure essential oils, no
base oil is added. Be sure to wash you hands after handling pure
essential oils to avoid any contact with the eyes or delicate mucous
membranes.
Find an airtight container, preferably with a
closable shaker top (like a baby powder bottle. Pry off the top, add the
powder, then replace the top. Aromatic foot powder is nice sprinkled in
socks, tennis shoes, and boots to keep the feet dry and cozy.
Scented Body
Powder
Try packaging this powder in
large shaker containers meant for salt and sugar, or look in a drug or
cosmetic store for containers that include a powder puff. 1 cup
cornstarch 1/4 tsp. chamomile essential oil
Dusting (Body) Powder: A simple pleasure
that can provide you with a luxurious little pick me up anytime. You
don’t have to have enough time for a bath to enjoy this, just put some
on! These are easy to make and the amounts of essential oils and
cornstarch can be modified to suit you. We recommend making small
amounts and storing out of direct sunlight.
General Directions for All Dusting
Powders
-
Select
your container – use a glass jar or any dusting powder container you
may have as long as you can seal and shake your ingredients in it.
The old fashioned tins with the shaker tops are great.
-
Pour 2
tablespoons of cornstarch or arrow root powder (health food stores)
into container.
-
Add the
essential oils.
-
Let the
dusting powder stand for a day tightly sealed.
-
This is where I usually
use a sifter - not necessary but I like the lightness of the powder.
-
Shake
well before using.
-
These make
wonderful gifts

Holiday Bookmarks
If you're giving a book
as a holiday gift why not add a
bookmark
to which you've added a
few drops of essential oils. Try to choose something that will appeal to
most folks like Orange or maybe a blend of
Lavender and
Tangerine. The
Orange is great for
kids. Create a bookmark for students adding oils to help them study,
Peppermint,
Rosemary and
Basil will help keep them
alert. Add a bottle of the essential oil so they can refresh their
bookmark. Maybe spice oils for a cookbook. The possibilities are
endless.
Put the 3-4 drops of
essential oil on a cotton ball, tissue, paper towel. Put this in a
plastic bag with the book marks for 24-48 hours - the longer you leave
in the bag the more saturated the bookmarks will become.

Scented Pine Cones
Materials:
-
Pine cones
-
Pine or
fir pure essential oil
-
Lidded
container, box or plastic bag
-
Facial
tissue
Fill
container, box or plastic bag with dry, clean pine cones.
Liberally
sprinkle tissue with essential oil and add to bag or container.
Seal the bag
or container and allow oil to penetrate cones for several days before
removing (the longer the cones are contained, the stronger the fragrance
will be).

A
homemade inhaler,
that is very easy to stick in a pocket or purse is made by simply saving
an empty chap stick tube. Wash out with hot soap and water to remove all
traces of chap stick and let air dry. Next put a piece of cotton in the
inhaler and measure the drops of essential oils for your blend directly
on the cotton. From "Free Yourself With Aromatherapy" by PK Enterprises
You can use just one eo, or your favorite blend with this.

To fragrance your kitchen cabinets and drawers, place a few drops of
Clove and/or Cinnamon essential oil on a cotton ball and tuck it into
the drawers or cabinets. Perfect for the Holidays!

A Refreshing Way to Start the Day
This helps to clear the head in the morning.
4 drops Peppermint
3 drops Eucalyptus
3 drops Grapefruit
3 drops Rosemary
Mix oils then add 6-7 drops to your morning bath or to your bath/shower
gel in the shower. Very refreshing!!
Does your family use personal
care products that contain
these potentially
harmful ingredients?
The ideal way to expose
yourself to most toxins
and carcinogens over your lifetime is to use
mainstream personal care products.
